The Organization for Defending Victims of Violence (ODVV) on the International Day of Non-Violence, held a specialized workshop entitled “Finding Solutions and No to Violence” in the presence of 50 psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers on 3 October 2018 in the conference hall of the ODVV. This workshop aimed at disseminating the message of “A World Without Violence” through education and raising public awareness, with emphasis on the principle of non-violence as a global connection to “ensure the culture of peace, tolerance, mutual understanding and non-violence”, AVA Diplomatic reports.
This workshop started with the speech of Deputy of Rehabilitation Department of the ODVV, Mr. Ahmad Reza Salamati, on the activities of this department in the field of violence prevention.
Then, UNIC National Information Officer Mr. Mohammad Rajai-Moghadam, spoke of the reason behind naming 2 October by the United Nations as “International Day of Non-Violence” and remembered the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement and the pioneer of philosophy and strategy of non-violence. Also, he elaborated some activities of the United Nations for violence prevention.
In workshop continued by Dr. Mir Saeid Jafari who talked about the concept of violence. He elaborated on basic skills related to preventing economic, sexual, mental and physical violence. This workshop concluded with a Q&A session and giving the certificates of participation.
