US exit from JCPOA not to affect Iran-Austria ties

Austrian Ambassador in Tehran Stefan Scholz said on Monday that US withdrawal from the JCPOA will have no impact on Tehran-Vienna friendly relations, as confidence and reliability are the main features of their ties, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Addressing a gathering of Ardebil province businessmen late Monday, he added that his visit to the province following US exit from the nuclear deal signals increasing interaction with Iran to the world.

Although presence of Austrian economic activists in Iran may face problems due to certain sanctions, Vienna is determined to maintain and promote cooperation with Iran under any conditions and Austrian companies are still willing to invest in Iran.

Both sides will attempt to remove obstacles in the way of activities of the Iranian and Austrian businessmen, he said.

The two countries’ ties have been friendly and strong since the era of King Esmaeil Safavi and this year is the 160th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Austria and Iran, Scholz said.

The secretary general of Ardebil Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture told the meeting that the province’s trade exchanges with Austria has increased over the past years.

Hossein Vosoqi-Irani added that a big Austrian firm has studied Ardebil tourism project in the past, hoping that investment in the field will be made soon.
