Members of Iranian Foundation of Aerospace Science and Technology navigated the UN online

Some members of the Iranian Foundation of Aerospace Science and Technology (IRFAST), including the Managing Director Dr. Abbas Ebrahimi and the Executive Manager Mr. Mostafa Tabatabaei Manesh, participated in a workshop on “Finding UN Information and Documentation” held at the UNIC Tehran on 21st February 2018, AVA Diplomatic reports.

UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami briefed the participants on how to find UN information and some basic facts about the UN, the UN and Civil Society, ECOSOC Committee on NGOs and how to submit quadrennial reports. The participants also learnt about some UN observances such as the International Day of Human Space Flight (12 April) and the International Civil Aviation Day (7 December). They also navigated through the websites of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a UN specialized agency.

Some UN information material including the UN System Chart was distributed among the participants. A video showing the former astronaut Scott Kelly as the United Nations Champion for Space was screened.

Dr. Abbas Ebrahimi, who is also a professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Sharif University of Technology found the workshop very useful and said he will invite other members of their NGO to participate in the next workshops.

The IRFAST has consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
