Iran powerful country in region: Sri Lankan Tehran envoy

Sri Lankan Ambassador in Tehran Mohammad Sharif Anis referred to Iran as a powerful country stressing that Colombo is willing to strengthen ties with Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Speaking exclusively in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Anis said that President of Sri Lankan Maithripala Sirisena plans to visit Iran.

After the presidential election in Sri Lanka in 2015, Sirisena sent diplomats to other countries, including Iran, and expressed his willingness to expand bilateral relations, Anis said.

He added that the time of the Sri Lankan’s president visit to Iran has not been decided on yet, but it said that 10 agreements are to be signed during the visit to Iran.
