President Rouhani: Harming JCPOA, blow to regional, Int’l security

Doing any harm to Iran’s nuclear activities means blowing regional and international security and stability, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Rouhani made the remarks Saturday in a ceremony to receive the credentials of new Swiss envoy to Tehran.

He urged parties to reinforce negotiations bases.

‘Today we are in a sensitive and important situation which is not only crucial for Iran and P5+1 but for the region and the world since Iran nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has created more calmness both in the region and the world,’ he added.

Tehran will continue cooperation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he said.

Iran nuclear activities are peaceful and we will not be the first to breach JCPOA as long as other parties are committed to the deal.

Rouhani hailed establishing friendly ties with Switzerland and is interested in developing economic, scientific and cultural relations between two countries.

He also urged both sides to facilitate banking ties.

Meanwhile, Swiss ambassador Markus Leitner said Swiss attache’s great importance to maintaining relations with Iran and also drew roadmap to reinforce bilateral ties between two countries.

He also emphasized Swiss determination to establish banking ties.

Switzerland will support JCPOA, and ‘we believe’ that all parties stay committed to the deal, he added.

The US president took a new strategy towards Iran and decertified Tehran’s commitment with the 2015 landmark nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Trump’s approach has been criticized by many countries, international bodies, political communities and world media.
