Mexican Ambassador to Iran Alfonso Zegbe underlined the need for broadening of mutual cooperation between Mexico City and Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.
“We are willing to cooperate with Iran in the economic and trade fields,” Zegbe said in a meeting with Chairman of Alborz Chamber of Commerce Rahim Bana Molayee in Karaj city on Sunday.
He reiterated that Mexico exports food and canned products to China, Malaysia, Japan, Philippines and the US, and said, “We are ready to cooperate with Iran in the field.”
Zegbe, meantime, pointed to the Mexican commercial cooperation with Muslim countries in the field of Halal food products, and said that his country could produce and export Halal food to those countries, under Iran’s Halal license.
Calling Bandar Abbas’s Customs a suitable place for Iran-Mexico’s commercial exchanges, the Mexican ambassador expressed the hope that the agreements between the two countries might provide the ground for business relations.
In relevant remarks in mid-March, the Mexican envoy in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined the need for increasing the level of trade exchanges between the two countries.
“Iran and Mexico need to boost the volume of their trade exchanges,” the Mexican ambassador said.
The Mexican envoy underlined that Iran-Mexico political relations are at a satisfactory level, but the two countries need to expand their economic and trade relations.
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, reiterated that his country is ready to expand its relations with Mexico.
In a relevant development in early February, Iranian Ambassador to Mexico Mohammad Taqi Hosseini and Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray in a meeting in Mexico City discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.
During the meeting in the Mexican capital, the two sides underlined the need for boosting mutual cooperation in different fields.
“As Iranian ambassador, I will do my best to promote Iran-Mexico ties in all fields,” Hosseini said.
Mexican foreign minister, for his part, pointed to the importance of establishing relations between Iran and Mexico, and said that he will travel to Iran soon.
