Direct flight to be launched soon between Tehran, Brussels
The first direct flight between Tehran and Brussels will be launched in the near future, Managing Director of Iran’s Qeshm Air Mahmoud Shekarabi said on Sunday in a meeting with Belgian Ambassador to Iran François Delhaye, AVA Diplomatic reports.
The move will be considered as further step towards expansion of tourism ties with Europe, Shekarabi said during the meeting.
He added that proper grounds are prepared to foster bilateral cooperation between Iran and Belgium as the European side is willing to widen tourism ties and exchange of passengers with Iran.
The aim of launching new air route is to expand Qeshm Airlines flights to Europe, the official said referring to Belgium as a country which locates at the center of Europe and therefore, enjoys a special strategic significance.
Tehran-Brussels direct flight will facilitate travel to Iran of foreign tourists from European countries as well as those Iranian nationals who live in Belgium, Shekarabi noted.
For his part, the Belgian ambassador said that Iran enjoys high capacities to attract foreign tourists.
Delhaye went on to say that the Belgian people welcome establishment of the direct flight between the two countries.
Tehran-Brussels air route will have positive impact on development of bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of tourism, investment and economy, Delhaye added.
As for issuing visas in Belgium, the ambassador said his country will surely do well dealing with issues related to visa.
As Belgium is a neighbor to big European markets in Germany, France and Britain, launching the direct flight to that country will be a good opportunity for the Iranian businesspersons to have access to the European markets.
Qeshm Air is the first Iranian passenger airline to which the Third Country Operator (TCO) license has been granted. TCO allows non-European airlines to conduct commercial air flights into the EU.
