 An Iran-China Common Cultural Committee to be formed

In a meeting with the Director of the Tehran International Book Fair, the Chinese ambassador in Iran emphasized on forming a common cultural committee between the two countries. He said, “By forming such a committee, the cultural relationships between the two countries will develop more than before”, AVA Diplomatic reports.

In his meeting with the Seyyed Abbas Salehi, the director of the 30th TIBF, Pang Sen considered China’s participation in the TIBF as the first step in the development of cultural relationships between the two countries. He said, “Organizing 30 editions of the TIBF is an admirable job and China will appreciate this opportunity to promote the cultural relationships between the two countries.”

Then emphasizing on the importance of the Common Cultural Committee, he said, “Large Chinese publishing companies are mostly willing to collaborate with Iranian publishers and in this regard, the cultural relationships between the two countries will develop more than before as this event provides a suitable opportunity for collaborations between the writers and publishers from both countries.

Considering books as an important element in cultural exchange between Iran and China, Pang Sen added, “Books are a safe and fast medium for the exchange of thoughts and cultures. Through this medium, the Iranian and Chinese writers and Illustrators can interact.”

Welcoming the promotion of the cultural collaborations between the two countries, Seyyed Abbas Salehi, said, “The relationship between Iran and China is an old one so that since long time ago, we have had good economic relationships with China via the Silk Road.”

Emphasizing on the exchange of cultural and literary products between the two countries, he continued, “In Iran, every year the best books in the field of Islamic Studies are introduced and awarded in the presence of the Iranian president. We hope that we can experience such an event in China especially regarding the works in the form of poetry and stories with the very theme of Islamic Studies.”
