Mexico’s Ambassador to Iran stated, “We are ready to increase our relations with Iran and the Mexican Embassy is always open to strengthening ties now.”
As reported by AVA Diplomatic, In a meeting with the members of Mashhad’s chamber of commerce, José Alfonso Zegbe Camarena underlined, “There are fine relations between the governments and parliaments of the two countries and the grounds of cooperation are fertile for boosting cultural exchanges and technical collaborations. Iran and Mexico are very close and we have to know more about one another. The Mexican Embassy and businessmen aim at giving more strength to our cultural and individual identity. We have to run commerce as soon as possible. The two governments have laid the groundwork to achieve certain frameworks in this area.”
Zegbe also pointed to the cultural and agricultural agreements reached between Mexico and Iran adding, “We can work in producing halal chicken meat and its financial preliminaries have been decided upon. That can lead to investment support and a final agreement is equal to the prevention of excessive taxation and customs. We have to be creative in this path. The problem, however, is the absence of financial institutions between the two countries which can enable us to work in logistics and shipping. This feature is on now, but there are still problems for importing Mexican products to Iran. If bilateral trade goes up between the two countries, their contacts shall increase accordingly.”
The Mexican Ambassador continued, “Mexico can tread beyond the Persian Gulf operating as a storage and hub for producing various items.”
