Role of Public-Private Partnerships in Promotion of SDGs

Iranian ski resorts with high altitude of mountains, proximity to Tehran, good snow conditions and professional equipment are another gem of this beautiful country. Thousands of skiers learned more about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the Austrian Charity Ski Race organized by the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy/ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA and Raika Tose’eh Kish Company at the Dizin Ski Resort on 4 March 2017, AVA Diplomatic reports.

UN Information Center in Tehran (UNIC) cooperated with the organizers and displayed posters and banners with the SDGs information during the event. The event was also supported by the German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce.

Austrian Ambassador Mr. Friedrich Stift, Dr. Georg Weingartner Austrian Commercial Counselor in Iran and Mr. Hamid Reza Tafteh, Managing Director of Raika Tose’eh Kish Company handed the awards to the race winners and spoke about importance of charity, support of children in need and protection of environment. Awards, provided by sponsors, were given to the winners in six categories: children, teenagers, ladies, men, businesspeople and pace setters (winners of the last races as well as active and former professional skiers).

UNIC Director Ms. Maria Dotsenko highlighted her gratitude and thanked Mr. Hamid Reza Tafteh and said: “UNIC really enjoyed to cooperate with RAIKA, its hardworking team and the Austrian Commercial Section. Your support to this important event is amazing sample of important role which public-private partnership plays for the promotion of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We are looking forward to continue our cooperation.”
