 UNE Chief visits Hormod booth at 16th International Environment Exhibition

United Nations Environment Executive Director Erik Solheim and UN Resident Coordinator in the Islamic Republic of Iran Gary Lewis visited Hormod Sustainable Development Institute’s booth at the Sixteenth International Environment Exhibition (24-27 February 2017) on Friday 24 February 2017, AVA Diplomatic reports.

During the exhibition, Hormod Sustainable Development Institute’s volunteers briefed the visitors on SDGs and informed them on how they can take part in fulfilling the goals by 2030. They also distributed Persian version of SDGs posters printed by UNIC Tehran.

Erik Solheim and Gary Lewis also reviewed some of the GEF/SGP/UNDP documents that were displayed at the booth.

Later on during the visit, they were asked to write down their perspectives on how they want their world to be in 2030.

A memorial photo of Solheim and Lewis within the SDGs frame was another part of the visit.

Solheim while leaving the booth, said “I am glad to see that you are advocating SDGs for the people.”

Hormod Sustainable Development Institute, is a nongovernmental and nonprofit institute, and also a member of the strategic council for Islamic Republic of Iran Sustainable Development National Committee. HSDI also cooperates with UNIC in commemorating UN environment observances/events such as World Environment Day etc.

Biodiversity, combating against land degradation, and reducing climate change are the main approaches of this institute.
