Iranian and Ecuadorian officials explored avenues of development of bilateral agricultural ties in Tehran on Saturday, AVA Diplomatic reports.
In a meeting between Ecuador’s Ambassador to Tehran Germán Alejandro Ortega Almeida and the country’s Commercial Attaché in Iran Guido Zambrano with officials from Iranian Agriculture Ministry including Hooman Fathi, the general director of Bureau of International Affairs and Specialized Organizations, and Changiz Esfandiari, the general director of Agricultural Industries Office, proper grounds for enhancement of agricultural ties were studied.
During the meeting Fathi voiced Iran’s readiness for exports of technical and engineering services to the South American country and Esfandiari expressed readiness for making joint investments with Ecuadorian companies for processing food specially processing tropical fruits on the way to meet demands of Iran’s domestic market as well as those of other markets in the region.
Zambrano, for his part, noted that Ecuador is studying increase of imports of agricultural products from Iran, and imports of raisin, grapes, and pistachio are among its priorities.
