Managing Director of Iran Ship Building and Offshore Industries Complex Co. (ISOICO) Hamid Rezayian Asl announced the country’s plans to further boost its shipbuilding capabilities and compete with the world’s top firms in this field, AVA Diplomatic reports.
The ISOICO has a five-year plan to be placed in the list of the world’s top five shipbuilders, Rezayian Asl said in a meeting with the French ambassador to Tehran on Wednesday.
The plan will create a breakthrough in the shipbuilding and ship repairing industries, he added.
At present, the ISOICO is the only shipbuilding company in the region which builds and repairs ships at different scales, Rezayian Asl said.
His remarks came after the ISOICO and Dutch IHC shipbuilding company signed an agreement to cooperate in sharing engineering and technology services.
Rezayian Asl said based on the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in sharing engineering, technological, equipment supply and manufacturing services.
Rezayian Asl said equipment repair, filling engineering service vacuum, and engine manufacturing will be among other points of cooperation.
He said the Netherlands is a fully maritime country with highly powerful shipbuilding industry, which will upgrade potential of the ISOICO.
Rezaian reiterated that the ISOICO and Dutch IHC would work jointly in exchange and sharing of engineering and technology services and manufacture and procurement of spare parts.
