Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud renewed his country’s support for the peaceful solution of the Syrian crisis, and called for international community’s attention to the humanitarian crisis in the city of Aleppo, AVA Diplomatic reports.
“The humanitarian crisis in Syria has only political solution,” Amir Abdollahian said during the meeting in the Iranian capital on Saturday while lauding the Syrian army for its recent victories in recapturing the key districts of Aleppo city.
He reiterated that Aleppo is on the eve of complete liberation from the terrorist groups’ dominance.
“Iran would continue its advisory help for the Iraqi and Syrian nations and governments,” Amir Abdollahian added.
He noted that terrorists have no place in the region’s future.
The Syrian ambassador, for his part, thanked the Iranian government and nation for supporting the Syrian people, and said, “The regional reactionary countries and their supporters are now hopeless and ashamed of victories of our fighters because their ominous terrorist plots were ruined.”
He pointed the ground victories of the Syrian army, and said that taking every decision about Syria should be within the framework of strategic policies of Syria, Iran and Russia.
In relevant remarks in late November, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani described the spread of terrorism in the region a result of the slow pace of the international community in launching all-out cooperation to fight against the heinous phenomenon.
“Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, we believed in adopting a political approach, and time proved this reality that spread of democracy in a country is not possible by spreading the terrorists on its territories and arming and supporting them,” Larijani said in a meeting with Slovenian President Borut Pahor in Tehran.
“The bitter reality is the ominous presence of terrorism in the region and the trend of its move has astonishingly grown in recent years which are the result of the lack of serious political efforts and determination at the international level and use of incorrect methods to confront it,” Larijani added.
