Mandela International Day Commemorated in Tehran

On the occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Janati inaugurated a photo exhibition by Meysam Shahbabaee entitled “Nelson Mandela for Ever” at Negarestan Museum on Monday 18 July 2016, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Organized jointly by Iranian International Studies Association (IISA) and Negarestan Museum in partnership with UNIC Tehran, the exhibition is held simultaneously in five cities of Tehran, Los Angles, Pretoria, Paris and Brisbane in five continents.

After the inauguration of the photo exhibition, United Nations Information Centre Director Maria Dotsenko delivered the UN Secretary-General’s message on the occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day 2016 in the presence of government officials, South African diplomat, journalists and a number of art lovers.

During the ceremony a young Iranian poet from the city of Isfahan recited his poem in English on Mandela and his contribution to human rights and international peace for the audience. At the end of the ceremony UNIC Director and the Minister signed the poster of the exhibition.
