Boroujerdi: US coalition to fight terrorism strengthened ISIL

Head of Majlis national security and foreign policy commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Monday that the US coalition against terrorism had no effect on weakening the terrorist groups in the region, rather the coalition strengthened ISIL, AVA Diplomatic reports.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud. Boroujerdi said that Iran supports every move to help restore peace and stability and destroy terrorist groups in the region, especially in Syria. He underlined Iran’s firm decision to support resistance to Israeli occupation and fight against terrorist groups in the region.

He expressed deep concern about escalation of violence by the Israeli occupying forces and said that whatever is happening in occupied territory is normal reaction of oppressed people of Palestine vis-a-vis the crimes against humanity being perpetrated by the Israeli leaders systematically. Adnan Mahmoud thanked Iran for support to the Syrian government and nation.

He said that Iran has taken effective steps to restore stability and tranquility in Syria and the international campaign against terrorism in the region.

He explained recent victories of military and popular forces of Syrians in fight against Takfiri groups saying that resistance of Syrians and support of Russia on battlefield has made advances in Syria.

Mahmoud said that the US and the western coalition against terrorism is fake. He said that world public opinion now reached the idea that the coalition strengthened the terrorist and Takfiri groups in the region and Syria.
