South African ambassador visited INIOAS

South Africa’s ambassador to Tehran has visited Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Mr. William Max Whitehead and his entourage were discussing the possibilities in implementation of Iran-South African agreement on scientific and technological cooperation, signed in 2000; the South African delegation had also participated in a session of joint scientific and technological committee held last May.
Nasser Hajizadeh Zaker, the Head of INIOAS who was accompanying the delegation, said that the Institute was the major authority of research in Oceanographic sciences in the country and had regular cooperation with world’s prestigious organizations and academic centers. He said the Institute was willing to improve relations with South African research centers in oceanography and marine sciences.
Mr. Whitehead also welcomed scientific cooperation of his fellow oceanographic science and research bodies with Iranian academic centers, and called for joint cooperation in a framework of specialist research projects. South African delegation also received a general report of laboratory capabilities of the INIOAS and the general conduct of the affairs.
