 Iran, UAE to expand cooperation in aerial transport

Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization in a meeting with the UAE Ambassador to Tehran reviewed grounds for increasing cooperation in aerial transport between the two countries, AVA Diplomatic reports.

According to a report by the Civil Aviation Organization, public relations bureau, Alireza Jahangirian said that in case the UAE existing possibilities and capacities in civil aerial transport could assist in direction of development of aerial industry between the two countries, will bear good results for expansion of mutual relations.

He described current level of social and economic ties between Iran and the United Arab Emirates ( UAE) as ‘Desirable’ and said that the UAE is among the top three countries in terms of trade with Iran.

Jahangirian continued that maintaining national interests of the both countries necessitate expansion of aerial cooperation and added that currently four UAE Airliner companies with 52 flights weekly and Iran Airliner companies with 140 flights weekly to the UAE airports are active, now.

In the past several months, because of dangerous situation in the region, transit from Iran’s aerospace and Persian Gulf region had been increased noticeably and in this concern Iran intends for new coordination between the two countries, the official said.

Ambassador Saif Mohammad Obeid al-Za’abi, for his part, said that volume of economic exchanges between the two countries is 20 billion dollars and added that there were problems and obstacles in mutual relations, but these belong to the past and we hope they will never be repeated again.

He added that when sanction’s were imposed against Iran, the UAE was always helping Iran in different fields, especially played an important role in the field of export and import.

Al-Za’abi called for more negotiation between the two countries and added that the UAE intends to continue its flights through Iran’s aerospace.
