 Iran, Lithuania stress enhancement of ties

Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi and Lithuaniaˈs new non-resident ambassador to Iran Kestutis Kujmanas, in a meeting on Monday called for enhanced bilateral relations, AVA Diplomatic reports.

In the meeting, during which the new ambassador submitted a copy of his credentials to the Iranian official, Sarmadi said that as both Iran and Lithuania are situated in sensitive regions of the world, further promotion of relations would benefit both countries

Sarmadi said the future of Iran-EU relations is bright and expressed hope that the ongoing negotiations between Iran and six western powers over Tehranˈs nuclear program would lead to reaching a comprehensive deal.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he called for collective efforts by all nations to efficiently fight terrorism and extremism which he said have inflicted heavy damage on global security and stability.

The Lithuanian ambassador, for his part, referred to good relations between Iran and Lithuania, urging both countries to make use of abundant capacities to further enhance bilateral ties.

Kujmanas said his government and nation are willing to boost ties with Iran.
