Remembrance ceremony for late Kofi Annan
Iranian International Studies Association (IISA) in partnership with UNIC Tehran organized a remembrance ceremony for former UN Secretary-General, late Kofi Annan at UN conference room on Tuesday 28 August 2018, AVA Diplomatic reports.
The ceremony began with one minute of silence for late Annan. Then, UNIC Director Dr Maria Dotsenko after a brief introduction on the former SG Kofi Annan’s visits to Tehran, read the statement of UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutterres for some 70 university students and professors as well as members of IISA.
Then the former Chief of Protocol of the Islamic Republic of Iran within the Iranian Mission to the United Nations Dr Ali Bidarmaghz who had accompanied Annan during his first visit to Tehran followed by his trip to Isfahan in 1997, talked about his memories about Kofi Annan.
He described Annan as a great man of peace and humanity with sense of humor.
A video film of Annan’s visit to Isfahan was displayed for the participants. Then, members of IISA signed the memorial book of Kofi Annan[MD1] .
UN collection of photo highlighting special moments of Kofi Annan’s life, was screened for the participants and at the UN Building Lobby, as well as the photos of his visits to Iran.
UN informational materials were distributed to the participants.
