Norway turning oil revenues into financial assets: Envoy

Norwegian Ambassador to Iran Lars Nordrum said on Monday that Norway has turned its petroleum incomes into financial assets to be ready for every possible threat, AVA Diplomatic reports.

He made the remarks in a meeting themed ‘Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and Energy Geopolitics’ in the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations.

Concerning Norway’s stance on US exit from the JCPOA, the senior Norwegian diplomat said that his country abides by the European Union law, so Norway commitment on JCPOA should be continued.

Although Norwegian government clearly expressed its sorrow over the US government’s decision to exit from the JCPOA, the Norwegian companies, which are active in the US will not export their technologies to Iran due to threats of the sanctions.

Lars Nordrum pointed to the presence of small Norwegian firms in Iran, and expressed the hope that they will continue their presence in Iran even during the sanctions.

‘But, anyway, Iran-Norway relations in the field of energy will be influenced by sanctions,’ he said.
