Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Rajeh Saber Abboud al-Moussavi said on Sunday that setting of referendum in the Iraqi Kurdistan runs counter to the country’s constitution as all international bodies call for maintaining the country’s territorial integrity, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Speaking to reporters, he said Iraq is to maintain its integrity as the whole world minds the country to maintain its unity.
Parliament of Kurdistan territory in the presence of some 69 representatives on September 14 ratified referendum of independence in Kurdistan Region with 65 votes in favor which is to be held on September 25.
On the latest status of Daesh terrorist group in Iraq, he said their era is now over forever, he said.
Daesh terrorist group invaded Iraq in 2014 and occupied a number of cities and committed numerous crimes.
Despite a global disagreement as well as the Iraqi government with referendum of independence in Kurdistan Region, the president of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Masoud Barzani insists on setting up the referendum on September 25.
