Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Ma’soumeh Ebtekar in a meeting with Mexican Ambassador to Iran Jose Alfonso Zegbe considered ways for mutual cooperation between the two countries on Wednesday, AVA Diplomatic reports.
In the meeting, Ebtekar proposed holding dialogue among Iranian and Mexican women and exchanging experiences at academic level.
She pointed to the presence of Iranian women in higher education arena, which is now 55 percent of university students and 27 percent of faculty members, and said that government approval to allocate 30 percent share for women management.
Ebtekar said activities of 1,750 non-governmental organization by women management is an indication of women’s role in Iran’s civil society.
She underlined that exchange of experiences at the level of parliaments of the two countries, and said that importance of family issue and its connection with national identity is common in both states.
‘Concerning common challenges of developing countries like high rate of unemployment, social maladies and the issue of youth and family it is necessary to use exchanging experiences opportunity and try to promote indices,’ Ebtekar added.
Zegbe also underlined holding parliamentary dialogues between the two countries and the necessity to try for consolidating bilateral ties in different fields of economy, politics and social affairs, and said that importance of family role and empowering women is common in both societies.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of cultural diversity, and said that the main priority in the issue of developing relations is to deepen social-cultural commonalties between Iran and Mexico.
He expressed interest for exchange university students between Mexico and Iran.
