Iraqi government decided to set up some 16 provisional consular offices in Iran to facilitate the procedure for issuing visas for pilgrims of Karbala on the mourning ceremony of Arbaeen, Iraqi Ambassador Rajeh Saber Aboud al-Mousavi said on Sunday, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Rajeh Saber Aboud al-Mousavi made the remarks in a coordination meeting with the officials of Arvand Free Zone Organization.

‘We all should get ready for organizing the historic event in the best manner.’

The number of Arbaeen pilgrims is growing each year and Iraq has so far hosted millions who entered the country for visiting holy shrines across the country, he said.

All Iraqi organizations and institutes are prepared to welcome the pilgrims, the envoy said.

He put the cost for issuing visas at 40 dollars, saying that his country will organize the ceremony better than the past.

The ambassador underlined that all the pilgrims from all the countries are required to get visa to enter Iraq and no order has so far been issued for accepting pilgrims without visas.

Managing Director of Arvand Free Zone Organization Esmaeil Zamani told the same meeting that last year Iran pilgrims entered Iraq via Shalamcheh border under suitable conditions, hoping that this year the job would be done better than the past years.

He called on the Iraqi government to provide further facilities for the pilgrims this year en route form Najaf to Karbala.
