 UN-Iran Partnership Historical Photos, Documents Exhibited in Bushehr

An Exhibition of Historical Photos and Documents on UN-Iran Partnership inaugurated at the 9th Dey Cultural and Art Centre in the port city of Bushehr, on 30 April 2018 by Dr Maria Dotsenko, UNIC Director, Mr. Majid Khorshidi Deputy Governor of Bushehr Province, Dr. Hamideh Mahouzi Director General of the Bushehr Provincial Branch of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and Mr. Akbar Iqbal Bureau Chief of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in the Province, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Dotsenko thanked IRNA, Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Center for Documents and History of Diplomacy, UN archives and Institute for Iranian Contemporary Historical Studies for providing these amazingly interesting photos and documents.

“These photos and documents prove that Iran has been always active in foreign affairs and invested efforts to promote international peace and security, and was among 51 UN founding Member States in 1945”, she said.

UNIC Director pointed out that in this photo exhibition the visitors would see many historical moments that are captured on photos and documents such as Dr Mustafa Adl, Head of Iranian Delegation signing the UN Charter on June 26, 1945, Ambassador Nasrollah Entezan of Iran unanimously elected as the President of the 5th session of the UN General Assembly, documents and photos related to the negotiations about various activities and meetings of UN where Iran played and keeps playing an important role, like recent World Against Violence and Extremism  (WAVE) initiative of His Excellency President Rouhani.  This WAVE initiative was adopted by UN Member States as the General Assembly resolution in 2013, 2015 and 2017.

A large number of people attended the inauguration ceremony of the Exhibition which coincided with the Persian Gulf Day ceremony in Bushehr.

“That is why, today some 18 UN specialized agencies, funds and programmes have representative offices in the Islamic Republic of Iran”, she said adding that so far seven of the UN Secretaries-General have visited Iran whose pictures are on display at this exhibition.

Also, UN delegation met with the President of the Persian Gulf University and discuss possible cooperation.

The trip was organized by UNIC’s partners from IRNA news agency and is one in the series of joint outreach events around the country.   Bushehr city is the capital of the Bushehr Province by the Persian Gulf.

A large number of people from all walks of life as well as local government officials and academicians visited the Exhibition of Historical Photos and Documents on UN-Iran Partnership in Bushehr from 30 April to 7 May 2018. UN informational materials in Persian language were distributed to the general public.
