 President receives credentials of new Brazilian envoy

President Hassan Rouhani received credentials of new Brazilian Ambassador, Rodrigo de Azeredo Santos, here on Sunday, AVA Diplomatic reports.

In the meeting, Rouhani called strengthening and facilitating banking relations between the two countries ‘necessary’ and said Iran welcomes development of cooperation with Brazil in the fields of energy, transport and technology.

President said relations between Tehran and Brasilia in recent years had noticeable progresses and it should be further promoted considering abundant capacities available for the purpose.

Rouhani underlined role of private sectors of Iran and Brazil in upgrading economic cooperation and expressed hope that considering firm intention for development of ties, the two countries witness a firm move in bilateral relations.

Brazil new ambassador said Iran and Brazil had always friendly and expanding relations and ‘we intend to develop cooperation in the fields of industry, energy, transport, science, technology, culture and agriculture.’

Rodrigo de Azeredo Santos said Brazil considers Iran as a confident and long time partner and is trying to find strategic economic relations with the country.

He said, ‘We believe Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was diplomatic victory on none peaceful alternatives, which has turned into a model for settling world problems.’

Santos said there is no obstacle on the way of banking relations between the two countries and Brazilian government has ordered the Central Bank to cooperate with Iranian Central Bank.

He hailed Iran’s ‘valuable and stabilizing’ role in the region, especially in recent developments in Syria and Astana meeting.
